Sorkin praised the captain after the 68:81 over Beer Sheva: "I will convince him not to retire." Catch update: Lorenzo Brown is scheduled to play against the Red Star

Maccabi Tel Aviv established itself in the first place of the Premier League this evening (Sunday), after beating Hapoel Beer Sheva 68:81 at home.

The yellows did not enjoy a particularly good offensive game, but completed the job and mostly distributed the minutes after the double week in the Euroleague.

Rafi Manko and Darren Hilliard led the way with 13 points each, Roman Sorkin contributed 10 and 11 rebounds, but the real star of the game was Guy Panini, who made his 511th appearance in the Major League - tying Meir Tapiro's all-time record.

Panini finished with 9 points in 13 minutes, marking another milestone in his impressive career.

"I don't know if I'll make it to 511 shows, but I'm trying to convince him to stay another year," said Roman Sorkin at the end of Guy Panini.

"He is a genius of the game, he never ends, and it is a great pleasure to play with him."

An impressive landmark.

Sorkin added: "I had a terrible game, I lost a lot of balls, but the main thing is that we won. We have important games at home now. I'm happy that we won today, we passed a mental obstacle even though we should have come more focused, face forward."

Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Oded Ketch concluded: "I mainly take the victory. You see that Beer Sheva has a way and a method, we played without enough commitment on a personal level in the first half. We need to be much more focused, that's where we got ourselves into trouble. We could have done it much easier . There have been ups and downs, but our challenge is to come prepared for every game. It's a lesson we've already learned, but we'll try to learn it again. I'm trying to send a message to the players that we shouldn't open games like this. It simply shouldn't happen. We stumbled twice here in home games. We feel a lot For some reason, we are more relaxed here, especially in league games. We need to learn from this, because things will not come easily to us."

Regarding Lorenzo Brown, he said: "It is not yet clear if he will play on Thursday. The plan is that he will play, but we will update later."
