Lawler has previously suffered a heart attack, in 2012, when he was a commentator on WWE's Monday Night Raw.
Ten minutes before that, he was still on stage, when he participated in a tag team battle with Randy Orton, when he was well past the age of 60. The one known as "The King" also had a seizure at his home in Memphis in 2018, after which he said he could not speak for three days.
Despite all the health problems, even this year he continued to occasionally appear in fights, despite his extreme age, 53 years after he made his debut in the ring.

"Lawler" was a wrestler for many years, including in the seventies and eighties, and among other things he participated in the movie "Man on the Moon" with Jim Carrey - in which he played himself as a wrestler who was the rival of the comedian Andy Kaufman, in confrontations between the two that drew quite a few headlines.
Lawler even slapped Kaufman in the face during a live broadcast on David Letterman's talk show, but after the comedian's death it became clear that it was a staged prank and that the two had actually been good friends all these years.
