Paralympic taekwondo fighter Assaf Yassour won the gold medal today (Tuesday) in the round championship held in Istanbul, Turkey.
Yassur, who competes in the weight category up to 58 kg, defeated an opponent from Mexico in the quarter-final stage. In the semi-final stage he defeated the local Turkish opponent and in the final he defeated the Japanese opponent en route to his second medal in the last week, after the silver a few days ago at the same venue.
In the weight category up to 63 kg, Adnan Milad finished the competition in fifth place after defeating a local Turkish opponent in the round of 16, but lost to an opponent from Uzbekistan ranked 3rd in the quarter finals. The team is accompanied by coaches Yahyam Sharabi and Roman Rusinov, and masseuse Antonio Arbid.
The rest of the team, which was supposed to compete at the weekend in the same competition, has already returned to Israel, after the event was canceled due to the severe earthquake that hit the country and the decision to cancel the sports events for at least the next week.
