Turkey earthquake: footballer Christian Atsu has still not given any sign of life

He was believed to have been found alive under rubble after the earthquake in Turkey.

But the relief around Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu has dissipated to give way to fear and doubt.

However, the Ghanaian federation and even the ambassador of Ghana in Turkey had announced that he was safe and sound.

“Christian Atsu was released injured, announced a leader of his club Hataysport on Radyo Gol.

Our sporting director, Taner Savut, is unfortunately still under the rubble.

But today Hatayspor explains that it has no information on the state of health of its player, but also does not know where he is.

"When we received the news that he had been taken to Dörtyol hospital, we went to see, but he was not there," explained the club's medical officer, in a Turkish daily.

Same lack of information from the side of the coach and former goalkeeper, Volkan Demirel, who announces that he is also worried about his sports director Taner Savut, also untraceable.

Ghanaian international 63 times, Christian Atsu, 31, is one of those missing after the two violent earthquakes (magnitude 7.7 and 7.5) that hit Syria and southeastern Turkey on Monday morning.

The day before, the winger, today at Hatayspor, had scored the winning goal for his team against Kasimpasa (1-0) on a free kick scored at the last minute.

He has spent a good part of his career in the Premier League.

He joined Chelsea in 2013 before being loaned to numerous clubs including Everton, Bournemouth and Newcastle.
