The Crazy Skippies shone at the Bavarian championships both athletically and as organizers.

And now they are already looking forward to the German one.

Lengdorf

– FC Lengdorf has long been a Bavarian stronghold of rope skipping.

No wonder, then, that the Crazy Skippies were entrusted with hosting the national championships in singles.

The water damage in the local school gym did not faze the FCL.

He quickly moved the event to Isen, where the athletes have been training since last summer.

Tournament day means for everyone: get up early!

For the clubs because of the 150-kilometer journey.

For the host, because everything has to be ready when the hall opens at 9.30 a.m.

"From seven in the morning we set up the four competition areas and everything around them," says Antonia Stangl.

She is a trainer and referee - and together with Andrea Raithel, Jana Morawietz, Maria Stangl and Verena Kiefinger the driving force at the FCL.

"Yes, it was exhausting," she says.

"But it was also a very nice day."

47 jumpers and one jumper from eight clubs showed their class - including eleven local heroes, of whom Stangl was particularly proud.

Because the women from Lengdorf belonged to the Bayern hurry in all disciplines, which can also be seen in the result lists (see below).

In the end, however, all participants proved the bandwidth they had mastered.

In the “single rope speed sprint”, for example, speed is what counts.

"You have to alternately jump from one leg to the other in 30 seconds, whereby only each jump with the right foot is counted by the judges," explains Stangl.

Endurance, on the other hand, is required in the "Single Rope Speed Endurance" category, in which 180 seconds can be quite a long time.

Here, too, the Skippies secured four medals.

And then Raphaela Horsch from Wacker Neutraubling showed why she is German runner-up.

Then the Isen hall filled up, because the category "Freestyle" was coming up.

"The aim here is to present a self-created acrobatic sequence of jumps to suitable music in a given time," explains Stangl.

"The viewers always find that very impressive."

Johanna Wimmer was in a class of her own.

She won the overall ranking and is now Bavarian champion in the 16 to 18 age group.

Freestyle is not only the most spectacular competition, but also the most complex.

Ten judges evaluate the exercise, the acrobatics, the artistic.

But they also check whether certain mandatory parts are actually installed.

"The most things can happen in freestyle," says Stangl.

"You can get tangled in the rope.

Somersaults, somersaults, handstands – that can get on your joints.” And you can “snuggle up” in every discipline.

But everything went well.

"We had three paramedics in the hall, but they didn't have to intervene," reports Stangl.

Back to beauty, for example Johanna Wimmer's perfect freestyle presentation.

Her difficult freestyle was accompanied by the pink hit "So What" and brought her the gold medal - a highlight of the event, which was only topped by Olivia Gessner's (Neutraubling) flawless jump sequence.

The Vice European Champion of 2019 won the title with an exceptionally high number of points.

What's even better than a freestyle singles?

At most one double - in this case the Bavarian Double Under-Cup.

Stangl: "The rope has to be swung under your feet twice during a jump." Selina Langer and Julia Hess secured the Bayern title in age groups 4 and 2.

There was even more cheering at the award ceremony when Isen's mayor Irmgard Hibler and FCL chairman Tom Obermaier announced the overall winners: Johanna Wimmer became Bavarian champion in the 16 to 18 age group.

Selina Langer (age group 12 to 13) and Luisa Wimmer (age group 14-15) won silver in the overall ranking.

Bronze went to Julia Hess (age 16-18) and Klara Seeger (age 14-15).

Additional reward for the Lengdorf quintet: the ticket to the German individual championships, which will be held in Idar-Oberstein in March.

"In addition, Julia Eicher, Julia Eder and Magdalena Maier were able to score the necessary points for the national final," said Stangl.

How are the title chances in the DM?

For Stangl it's not that important.

"We're just looking forward to seeing everyone again.

We're also curious to see what the competition is up to.

It will be a nice reunion," she says.

After the corona-related break, things are finally looking up again.

The FCL has never had problems with youngsters anyway.

Around 30 girls between the ages of 8 and 19 are active in the Skippies.

"For many of them, the Bavarians were a competition premiere." Now it's really getting started.
