2023-02-10T11:51:45.044Z

The Irish opener, holder against the France team on Saturday (3:15 p.m.), could break the points record in the Six Nations and overtake his compatriot Ronan O'Gara.

Saturday in Dublin, the shocks are going to be tough and the outcome could be as wonderful as it is cruel.

Ireland receives Fabien Galthié's XV of France for what already looks like a final.

In this match, the metronome Jonathan Sexton (37 years old, 110 selections), finally rid of his physical glitches, will be to follow.

The former Racing 92 player and Leinster opener could exceed the record for points in the history of the competition and held by his predecessor, Ronan O'Gara.

More than 15 points

Penalized 18 times during the narrow victory in Italy, the Blues will have to rectify the situation against the other team in form at the moment, Ireland.

Opposite, the gunner Jonathan Sexton, author of a very good match and 12 points on foot during the wide success in Wales (10-34), will not be asked.

The scorer with 110 selections could, in addition, exceed a new record.

He is only 14 points away from equaling former Irish opener Ronan O'Gara (557 points) and therefore one point from overtaking him, in terms of points scored in the history of the Tournament.

Sexton would therefore become the leading points scorer of all time.

The Leinster flyhalf would also overtake England legend Jonny Wilkinson, who is just three points behind him.

Note that the opener or three-quarter center of the XV de la Rose, Owen Farrell, only 31 years old, is not so far (506 points) and is in 4th place in the standings.

"

The older you get, the more selfish you are

," Sexton said before the start of the Six Nations.

Was he suggesting that the 2023 edition would be his last international chapter?

No one knows.

If the Irish pyrotechnician - under contract with his federation until the next World Cup - does not break this record against the France team, he will have plenty of time to do so during the last three days of the competition.
