Union Berlin is the team of the moment in the Bundesliga.

Urs Fischer's team also continued their winning streak at RB Leipzig and won 2-1.

Union remains Bayern's first pursuer in the table.

Leipzig has lost ground and is now seven points behind the leaders.

Leipzig, unbeaten in 18 competitive games, Union with five wins from five games in the 2023 calendar year: two of the most successful teams of the previous weeks met here.

And right from the start it was obvious that the two teams were playing at eye level.

With the disadvantage that goal chances were hardly to be seen.

So it took until the 24th minute before RB seriously shot at goal and was immediately successful.

National player Benjamin Henrichs took heart from a good 20 yards out, he caught Union goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow cold, the keeper still had his hand on the ball, but reacted a bit too slowly, the ball went into the goal.

Union held on, you could tell the team's mature style of play, but there was only one notable chance before the break: Sheraldo Becker failed at Leipzig goalkeeper Janis Blaswich.

After the change, the game needed a quarter of an hour to really get going again, but then with a real direct hit: Janik Haberer caught the ball after a corner kick from the Union volley on the edge of the penalty area and hit it with full force to make it 1:1. Compensation.

The game was completely turned around in the 71st minute: Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan was handed the ball in the penalty area: Robin Koche confidently converted the penalty kick to give the visitors the lead.

But that was still not the end: Yussuf Poulsen, who had just come on as a substitute, scored in the 79th minute to make it supposed to be 2:2, but an offside position by the again weak Timo Werner ensured that the goal was disallowed again.
