Despite the difficult opening figures, which include a migration to Latvia due to the fighting in Ukraine, the Israeli coach of Prometheus marches the club to a surprising debut season in the Eurocup. for mobile"), and the chance to meet Hapoel Tel Aviv ("They really impress me") • Special interview

Another success in the chain.

Since 2006, Nano Ginzburg has been coaching overseas and accumulating achievement after achievement.

Also this season, he leads the Ukrainian Prometheus to a surprising season in its Eurocup debut.

As with most of his achievements in the past, they happen despite the difficulties, with difficult opening figures.

This time it happens with a group whose country is in a state of war.

The Eurocup is divided into two groups of 10 teams.

House A is led by Fromithi with a record of 5:9.

Hapoel Tel Aviv plays successfully in the parallel house and who knows, maybe the two teams will meet in the higher stages of the factory.

The success takes on much greater dimensions when you remember that this is a club that was founded only five years ago and that this is only its second season in Europe.

Above all, it is a success in complicated conditions: a group without a home - the war in Ukraine forced it to move to Riga in Latvia and from there it works through all the difficulties and limitations associated with it.

Nano Ginzburg signs with the Ukrainian club.

So far: success,

Nano Ginzburg tells about the team's special preparation this season: "The team lives in Riga with the players' families. At first the players had to go to Ukraine every month to renew their visas and because there are no flights there it was a long journey. Now they have a permanent visa arranged for them. The team plays in the Arena of Riga.

"There were times when the hall was occupied and we hosted in Kaunas, Lithuania. In Riga, there are about 700-1000 people who come to see us, some of them Ukrainians who live here. There were games where the president of the team organized groups of fans from Ukraine who came to the games. This also happened in the away game in Venice," adds the coach the Israeli

On the surrounding pressure, Nano adds: "The Ukrainian players are doing well, but you feel the pressure regarding what is happening at home. Every time there are bombs, they are on the phones all the time. As a coach, beyond the professional side, I must keep their spirits up and always have my hand on the pulse I salute the Ukrainian players - they know how to survive in a difficult situation."

Last season with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the team's activities were stopped.

Nano was preparing for the season not to be renewed at all, but then the call came from the boss Vladimir Dubinsky.

"He said that we continue as usual, that it is important to preserve the name of Ukraine and to show that life continues as usual," explains Ginzburg.

A surprising balance in the Eurocup,

So what is the secret of professional success?

"We're having fun, there's a good atmosphere.

We are obviously missing our crowd, but the team is performing well.

We knew how to build good chemistry and there is a lot of desire and commitment.

Quite a few new players came to the team and they were absorbed quickly.

We have strengths and we have weaknesses that we try to hide.

We are in a good time, but I am realistic, because everything is dynamic.

The method in the Eurocup is that from the round of 16 to the final it is one game at each stage (there are no AS series), so everything is fluid.

With the victories comes the appetite.'

The winner of the Eurocup and maybe also this time the finalist will play next season in the Euroleague

"At the moment there are no expectations for the Euroleague, but our president believes.

Already at the meeting where I signed the contract, he said he wanted to reach the Euroleague within a few years.'

And if you arrive, logistically and financially can you afford it?

"There is no doubt.

have the resources and abilities to play there.

Our president is ready and organized for everything."

How do you see the balance of power in the Eurocup this season?

"There are no super teams like there were last season - Virtus Bologna, Partizan Belgrade or Valencia.

There are 10-12 teams of more or less equal level that can beat each other on a given night.

With the existing game system - everything is open.'

they look good

This is an impressive team that can go far.

However, Danny Franco also knows that in the knock-out stages it is one game and anything can happen.'

You have three Premier League veterans in your team: James Dickey, DJ Kennedy and Caleb Agada, ex-Beer Sheva, who is a leading player for you.

"Agada arrived after a season in Australia and I returned him to his original position as a second-guard, who sometimes plays as a center back.

He is a great guy, he has abilities, he constantly wants to learn and I am very pleased with him.

There is interest in him all the time from groups.'
