Heavy fear for Christian Atsu's life.
The Taispor striker is still trapped under the rubble following the powerful earthquake that struck Turkey, and this morning (Saturday) the search for him resumed under the ruins of a high-rise building where he was staying before it collapsed.
Atsu's representatives and a number of close friends of sporting director Tanner Sabut, who is also still missing, have arrived to assist in the search efforts, but Turkey understands that as the days pass, the chances of finding any of them alive seem slim.
Meanwhile, his worried family members await news, but receive incomplete or incorrect information.
The false reports according to which Atso was rescued alive were also confirmed by senior officials in Hataispur, and false hopes were planted in his partner, Maria Claire-Rupio.
When it turned out that the reports were unverified and that Shatsu was still missing, they didn't even find the time to inform her.
"Taisfor's conduct in this whole story is surprising, confusing, and quite shameful," Claire-Cupio told the BBC.
She even said that Atsu's children were informed that he had not been rescued and was in fact still between life and death, through a radio report.
According to her, she is having trouble getting reliable information from club officials, but "continues to pray, and still believes he is alive."
