A great achievement for the track cyclist Michael Yaakovlev, who finished fourth today (Saturday) in the European Championship held in Switzerland.

In the heat for the bronze, Yaakovlev met the Frenchman Ryan Halal - bronze medalist from the team competition at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, lost to him 2:0, and finished fourth.

As I remember, on the opening day, the Israeli set a time of 9.52 seconds for 200 meters in the qualifiers and finished in 2nd place.

This result gave him automatic qualification to the round of 16 and placement against riders who were slower in the qualifiers.

22-year-old Yakovlev immigrated to Israel from Russia and is considered a great talent.

He competes in sprint competitions on track bikes (velodrome) and won a bronze medal in the keirin competition at the World Championships, and in the individual sprint competition at the European Championships in 2021 (both disciplines are Olympic).
