Hertha BSC has achieved a liberation in the Bundesliga - against Borussia Mönchengladbach, coach Sandro Schwarz's team managed their first success in 2023 after four previous defeats.

With the 4: 1 (1: 1) victory after a deficit, Hertha improved to 16th place in the table.

Hertha was clearly aware of the uncertainty from the previous weeks at the beginning.

Gladbach was clearly the more mature, superior team and deserved the lead after 19 minutes.

After a corner kick, Nico Elvedi was free to head the ball, the ball sank into the long goal corner, the Berlin defense collectively didn't pay attention to the action.

Even after that, Borussia was superior, especially Lars Stindl convinced in the build-up with well thought-out passes.

Only slowly did the Berliners find their way into the game.

They needed that one action in the 31st minute to equalize to wake up.

After a nice combination down the right, Jessic Ngankam caught the low cross in front of the Gladbach defenders and shot in from close range.

Suddenly Hertha was the better team.

She missed two or three good chances before the break, the 1:1 was meanwhile happy for the guests.

After the break, the Berliners continued their forward drive and were soon successful: Marton Dardai shot a powerful shot on goal from 20 meters, Gladbach goalkeeper Jonas Omlin, on the other hand, had no chance.

Hertha had turned the game around.

The guests then became more offensive again, they had given up the game as so often in the previous months after a lead.

But the Borussia were no longer really compelling.

Shortly before the end, Hertha goalkeeper Oliver Christensen saved artistically against a shot by Thuram.

In added time, substitute Derry Scherhant made it 3-1, then Dodi Lukebakio made the final decision with a penalty kick.

Daniel Farke's team from Gladbach only managed to win one point against Schalke from the bottom and Hertha from bottom two within a week - so the team is still stuck in the middle of the table.
