Miki Zohar: "The Olympic sport is our face in the world" | Israel today

The Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar together with the Director of the Ministry of Culture and Sports Kafir Suisa, met this evening (Sunday) at the Olympic Committee offices with the Chairman of the Olympic Committee Yael Arad, the CEO of the Olympic Committee Gili Lustig and the management of the Olympic Committee including representatives of the 17 leading sports associations in Israel.

During the meeting, the heads of the committee reviewed the activities of the organization, centered on the race to the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer of 2024 and the Olympic preparations of 160 male and female athletes of the Olympic squads.

In addition, the values ​​and vision of the Olympic Committee were presented to the Minister of Culture and Sports.

Among the topics touched upon by the Olympic Committee - education for excellence, the future generation of Olympic athletes, a reserve of accomplished coaches, reference to the Arab society and more.

During the meeting, Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar explained to the Olympic Committee his vision of building a national sports center in the south as well.

"A sports center like the Wingate Institute that will be established in the south can lead many young people from the south, who today have a hard time getting into international competitions in high-achieving sports."

In addition, Minister Zohar presented the planned Toto reform which will significantly increase the budget of the Ministry of Culture and Sports and thus also the budget of the Olympic Games.

The members of the board of the Olympic Committee, including chairmen and CEOs of unions, presented the minister with the many challenges they face and heard from him and CEO Kafir Suisa about their desire to advance the various needs.
