The match between Winkel Sport B and Westrozebeke has been canceled on Saturday.
Winkel's goalkeeper Arne Espeel, then 25, collapsed on the lawn shortly after saving a penalty and died a few minutes later, as the local Belgian press announced.
The match referee immediately stopped the match and a rescue team attempted to perform CPR on the player.
Arne Espeel then died on the way to hospital.
“We are all extremely affected.
He has been playing with us since his youth and is particularly appreciated by all.
That something like this happens to such a young man is beyond belief,” the Winkel Sport B team told
