Méribel - The German ski racer Alexander Schmid won gold in the parallel competition at the World Championships in France.
The 28-year-old defeated Dominik Raschner in the final in Méribel on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old prevailed against the Austrian Dominik Raschner in the final and secured the first medal for the German Ski Association (DSV) in the title fights in France.
It was the first German World Cup victory in ten years.
In 2013, Maria Höfl-Riesch triumphed in the combination.
Schmid knocked out Filippo della Vite (Italy), Zan Kranjec (Slovenia) and Norwegian Timon Haugan on his way to the title.
At the 2021 World Cup he had to settle for fourth place.
The success should also give Schmid tailwind for the giant slalom on Friday.
The men's bronze went to Norway's Timon Haugan.
The Norwegian Marie Therese Tviberg became world champion by beating the Swiss Wendy Holdener in the final.
Third place went to Thea Louise Stjernesund (Norway).
For Lena Dürr (Germering) it was over in the quarterfinals against Tviberg, Linus Straßer (Munich) failed in the first round.
Dürr can now concentrate primarily on the slalom on Saturday, in which the 31-year-old is one of the medal candidates.
Slalom specialist Straßer had to admit defeat to Italian Luca de Aliprandini in the round of 16.
Andrea Filser (Wildsteig), Fabian Gratz (Altenau) and Sebastian Holzmann (Oberstdorf) could not qualify for the finals.
