A 44-year-old man was found dead on Wednesday after jumping from a cliff in the Pibeste massif, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, to base-jump, we learned from the emergency services.
The individual, originally from Vendée, had been wanted since Tuesday by the CRS of the Gavarnie mountain rescue unit after his companion reported his disappearance, worrying not to see him return.
The man was a fan of base-jumping, a sporting practice with strong sensations consisting of jumping from a high point before opening his parachute.
He would have made several errors during his jump and he died instantly after falling from a cliff from 30 to 50 meters, said the CRS of Gavarnie.
