The Erding Gladiators got their first away win in the championship round on Friday evening at EA Schongau.

Schongau/Erding – The Mammuts had to admit defeat after 60 exciting minutes with 3:5 (0:1, 2:1, 1:3).

In the first few minutes, the game was pretty uneventful.

Neither team initially dared to come out of cover, it was important to secure the defense and not give the opponent any opportunities.

Then the game got livelier.

Schongau was superior, but could not use it.

A little later, Erding had a power play opportunity and took a 1-0 lead after just 15 seconds.

Roni Rukajärvi and Philipp Michl had prepared, Daniel Krzizok completed (7th).

There were still chances for both sides until the first break, but not compelling ones.

The Gladiators got off to a better start in the middle third.

Again there was a penalty against the Schongauer and another goal for Erding.

This time it took 22 seconds to celebrate: Michl had fired and Tomas Plihal deflected into Daniel Blankenburg.

But instead of that lead reassuring the Gladiators, they lost the thread completely and within 120 seconds, Ryan Murphy equalized with a double.

And the former Erdinger continued in the third third where he left off in the second.

In the 45th minute he completed a solo to make it 3:2 and made his flawless hat trick perfect.

Gladiators fans were already thinking of "Murphy's Law", which means: "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong."

But that was not the case, because suddenly the game turned.

When, out of the blue, a shot from Michael Trox landed in the Schongau net to make it 3:3 (49th), a completely different Erdinger team suddenly appeared on the ice, now brimming with self-confidence.

The Gladiators acted as one and only three minutes later the Erdingers had turned the game around.

In a confusing crowd in front of the Mammuts' goal, it was Michael Franz who poked the puck into the goal to make it 4:3 (52').

In the final phase it got dramatic again, because Schongau had the majority, but Thomas Hingel in the Erdinger Tor could no longer be defeated.

And when the Mammuts sent a sixth outfield player onto the ice to replace their goalkeeper, Michael Franz completed the Gladiators' 5-3 away win with a shot into the empty goal with 47 seconds remaining.
