Judo: clash between the French Federation and Clarisse Agbégnénou about her kimono

Le Parisien reveals that the double Olympic champion, who is making her international comeback this week in Tel Aviv, Israel, refuses to wear the kimono imposed on her by the Federation. The latter decided to deprive her of a coach and to freeze her financial aid.


Absent individually since the Tokyo Olympics, due to maternity, Olympic champion Clarisse Agbégnénou is preparing for the Doha Worlds (May 7-14).

And she lives a very agitated preparation without a coach, in full conflict with her Federation.

Agbégnénou thus chose to wear the kimono of his equipment manufacturer (Mizuno) and not that of the French team (Adidas).

In retaliation, the federation decided to cut her off and deprive her of coaching.

learns the double Olympic champion had notably received an email, sent by the DTN Sébastien Mansois.

"

We remind you that the combat uniform of the French team, provided by the management, is compulsory within the framework of the grand slam of Tel Aviv, as in all the competitions in which you are engaged under the French team.

The champion will no longer receive personalized aid, those paid by the Federation and which come in very large part from the State.

Clarisse Agbégnénou signed a kimono contract with Mizuno while the French Judo Federation was negotiating with the equipment manufacturer Adidas to supply the entire French team… the judoka wanted to do like Teddy Riner who had signed with Under Armor.

An agreement had been reached so that the tricolor judo star wears the France team outfit, with the Under Armor logo on it.

Since the Tokyo Olympics, Riner has been wearing the Fight Art outfit, the brand he launched.

Clarisse Agbégnénou who intended to do the same, in the name of fairness... Failed.
