NBA officials try to reinvent themselves every year to keep the All-Star Weekend relevant and equitable so that as many players as possible get to participate in the glitzy games.
This time in Utah, the weekend began with the tournament that replaced the junior All-Star games (Rockies vs. second-year players), with the new format being called the Rising Stars Tournament (named after Michael Jordan), and it included four teams.
Everyone plays against everyone in the new idea, which also gave a platform to players from the development league, and at the end of three games it was the team coached by Pau Gasol who lifted the trophy.

mvp,
Alongside the former Spanish star, Joakim Noah and Deron Williams stood on the lines with their own teams, and they saw Jose Alvarado from the New Orleans Pelicans excelling more than anyone for Pau Tim and winning the MVP title of the tournament.
Pau Tim beat Williams' 25:40, Noah's team beat the Development League team coached by Jason Terry, 32:40, and in the final between Gasol and Noah, the Spaniard won 20:25.
