Summary: Newcastle - Liverpool 2:0 (Sport1)
It was a game of do or die for Liverpool and she definitely mentioned oblivion.
On August 31, Newcastle suffered the only loss of the season in the league, when they surrendered at Anfield 2:1 to Liverpool from a deep goal in extra time.
Tonight (Saturday) at St. James Park, Liverpool attacked their opponent, took a double lead 17 minutes after the opening whistle and only hair-raising misses prevented them from defeating the Magpies, who have already gone three consecutive rounds without a win.
This is a critical win for Liverpool at the expense of fourth placed in the table, as the gap between them has now shrunk to just six points.
Liverpool is ranked eighth, but the dream of the Champions League is still alive - and it is no coincidence that Jurgen Klopp said before the game that he believes his players can win all the games until the end of the season.

Darwin Nunes broke the streak when he scored for the first time since round 16, receiving a fantastic deep ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold in the 10th minute, and immediately afterwards Gakpo scored his second round in a row and his second in total since he joined at the beginning of the January window, also from a spectacular header he received from Mohamed Salah.
Newcastle completely disintegrated already in the 22nd minute, when goalkeeper Nick Pope went away from the goal, touched the ball with his hand to prevent Mohamed Salah from going through it and scored and rightly received a red card - which will prevent him from playing in the League Cup final against Manchester United.
Pop, by the way, was replaced by Martin Doberkebke, but he will not be able to be in goal in the League Cup due to the fact that he played in the factory in the Manchester United uniform this season (he is again on loan in January) and will therefore be between the posts in the critical match for Loris Karius.
As you know, Liverpool's next match will take place in three days when they host Real Madrid in the first match between them in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
There is no doubt that the impressive win at Newcastle will help Liverpool's confidence ahead of a replay of last season's final, but Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that Nunes, who suffered a shoulder injury and was substituted, will not be absent from the contest.
The course of the game
4th minute: Almiron was standing alone in front of Alisson and had to score, the Brazilian got down perfectly and prevented him from a quick goal.
10th minute: Goal!
0:1 to Liverpool.
Alexander Arnold with an amazing deep ball put Nunes alone in front of Pope.
Stopping the ball was not easy, but the Uruguayan did it excellently and kicked a tremendous ball that was only stopped in the net.
17th minute: Goal!
Liverpool already have a double advantage.
Salah bounced a ball to Gakpo, who was left alone in the center of the area and unhindered kicked under Pop's hands and in.
Minute 22: Red card!
Newcastle can't believe this is happening to them.
A long ball towards Salah forced Pope out of the goal, he touched the ball with his hand far outside the box and received a straight red card.
