Geretsried – The Geretsried ice hockey team suffered their second home defeat in a row on Friday evening in the Bayernliga relegation round.
In the 2: 3 (0: 1, 0: 0, 2: 2) against ESC Dorfen, the River Rats were constantly behind.
The good will and scoring chances were definitely there, but the yield was meager.
"We didn't start well, we allowed too many chances," said Hans Tauber junior. The coach saw a better performance in the second half, "but the goals were missing.
We just don't have the necessary luck at the moment."
Without Daniel Bursch, Daniel Merl and Josef Reiter, but again with Martin Köhler and Jakob Heigl, the home side struggled from the start.
The guests booked the first chances, but ESC keeper Martin Morczinietz was a safe support throughout the game.
The River Rats missed two short manpower situations, while Dorfen took a 1-0 lead shortly after Benedikt Dietrich (15th) played his own power play.
The hosts did not catch up on this deficit in the second half either.
Especially since a number of shots were either defused by guest goalkeeper Maximilian Englbrecht or were too inaccurate.
In the final third, Geretsrieder pushed for the equalizer, but ran into a counterattack after 46 minutes - 0:2 by Felix Wiedenhofer.
Shortly afterwards, Florian Strobl scored the goal with a nice shot into the Kreuzeck (47th), but Dorfen immediately made it 1:3 (49th).
The ESC drew hope after Ondrej Horvath (51st) made it 2-3, but nothing came of it in a 5-3 majority that lasted almost two minutes.
"We're back to reality after our initial successes," emphasized Hans Tauber, while his Dorfen colleague Franz Steer stated with satisfaction: "If you score yourself, you don't have to look at the table."
