Union Berlin got a chance to take the top spot with a comfortable home game against Schalke, but ended in a frustrating 0:0.
Borussia Dortmund beat Hertha Berlin 1:4 and created an arrowhead of three teams at the top.

The yellow-blacks, who played in full black today, achieved an eighth consecutive victory in all competitions, took advantage of the stumbling of Bayern Munich and Union Berlin and clung to them at the German summit, with all three currently having 43 points.
Karim Adeyemi, who scored the spectacular winning goal against Chelsea in the Champions League, was also the star of this game.
The young striker benefited from Royce's assist and with his heel made it 0:1 (27) and five minutes later he activated burners on the left wing and scored the second for Mallen.
Unfortunately Adeyemi was injured right after the second goal, was replaced and it is not clear if he will be fit for the return match against Chelsea.
Lucas Tosser headed Hertha (47), but Marco Reus made it 1:3 (76) with a tremendous free kick and secured the win, with Julian Brandt nodding in the 90th minute.
Hertha is in penultimate place, but only 2 points away from Hoffenheim and Stuttgart, who are on the safe side.

After five consecutive league victories and another flattering 0:0 against Ajax away in Europe, Union arrived as a clear favorite for the meeting with the leader of the table.
The team from the capital had 23 home points this season out of 27 until this game while Schalke on the other hand had 3 points away this season and in the first meeting of the season they were defeated by Union 6:1.
But numbers are separate and reality is separate.
Schalke, in the recent past a great team in Germany and now the top candidate to return to the second division again, defended fiercely and managed to stop Onion, who in the previous round beat R.B.
Leipzig.
Although Union did not deprive Bayern of the summit due to the fact that it was stopped after five consecutive league victories, it completely closed the gap from the champion with only a goal difference separating the two.
The last Schalke, who recorded a draw from zero in a row for the fourth time, is six points away from Kof Mivathim.
