Syrian national team player for billiards, Muhammad Al-Soufi, was crowned with the title of the European Billiards Championship (nine-ball), whose competitions concluded today in the Estonian capital, Tallinn, in an unprecedented achievement for any Arab player.
Al-Sufi defeated the Spanish world champion Francisco Sanchez in the final, and also defeated the Dutchman Nils Wagen in the semi-finals.
Al-Sufi, who received the championship trophy, refused to participate in the ceremony in solidarity with the earthquake victims in Syria.
