French cross-country skier Jules Chappaz won the bronze medal in the classic style sprint at the world championships at the age of 23 on Thursday in the Slovenian resort of Planica, behind the untouchable Norwegian Johannes Klaebo and his compatriot Paal Golberg.

Jules Chappaz is the fifth Frenchman to win an individual medal at the Nordic Skiing World Championships, after Vincent Vittoz's gold in 2005 (skiathlon) and Maurice Manificat's silver medals in 2015 (15 km free), Hervé Balland in 1993 (50 km) and Jean-Paul Pierrat in 1978 (50 km).
