Diakité and Alexandro scorers

Were you expecting Jonathan David (15 goals) or Jonathan Bamba (5 goals)?

Well it failed.

This Friday evening against Brest, defenders Bafodé Diakité and Alexsandro turned into scorers.

Diakité stood out first by putting his team back on par with a headed goal from a cross on the hour mark. Alexsandro, who replaced the indefatigable captain José Fonte, injured, scored the second and last Lille goal.

The Brazilian also placed a header in the Brest cage.

After Alexsandro's goal, Lille were exulted.

Lille takes 5th place in the standings

Sixth before the meeting, Lille had the possibility of overtaking Rennes, 5th in the event of victory.

And it's done.

Long in difficulty, Paulo Fonseca's men went for three important points in their quest for Europe.

With this success, the Mastiffs are getting closer and remain five points behind Lens (4th) before the next matches of the 25th day of Ligue 1 this Saturday.

The Sang et Or will also host LOSC on March 4 in a boiling and oh so important derby.

Bizot at fault

On Diakité's first goal, the Brest goalkeeper could do nothing.

But on the second, the Dutchman is at fault.

Author of a risky outing, Marco Bizot misses the ball and lets Alexsandro score with a header.

An error that costs a goal and leaves the victory to Lille.

Too bad since, until then, the 31-year-old goalkeeper had played quite a good game.

He had notably made a good stop on a powerful and framed free kick from Cabella at the entrance to the surface.

A stormy end to the game

After Diakité's goal, tempers flared in the Brest cages.

The two teams were warned and resumed play. But on a long ball on the sidelines, Fadiga unnecessarily hit Cabella in the back and the match then took another turn.

On the bench, Eric Roy and Paulo Fonseca will hang on and the latter will even receive a red card.

Eric Roy, the Brest coach, will get annoyed again before returning to the locker room.
