SV Darmstadt and Hamburger SV played 1:1 (0:1) in an exciting top game.
In the top duel in the second division, HSV took the lead early on through Ransford Königsdörffer (4th minute).
The attacker was only allowed to start because regular starter Bakery Jatta was late for a meeting and was penalized on the bench at the start of the game.
Shortly before the end, substitute Filip Stojilković equalized after a solo run from the center line for Darmstadt (81st), who had significantly more chances than HSV.
Darmstadt remains at the top of the standings and is four points ahead of Hamburger SV.
HSV started with a lot of enthusiasm and promptly took the lead.
Moritz Heyer released the run-in Königsdörffer with a half-high ball, which took off directly and scored from a few meters.
After that, Darmstadt had more of the game, but often lacked the pace.
Only in the middle of the first half did the front runner become more dangerous: The energetic Frank Ronstadt was saved by HSV keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes (22'), and Christoph Zimmermann just missed the equalizer after a corner (30').
HSV became more and more passive – and were very lucky just before the break: After a cross from Phillip Tietz, Darmstadt’s Mathias Honsak slipped into the ball. The ball bounced onto the line from the left inside post before HSV could clear (41’).
After the break, Hamburg were more aggressive in duels again, but found it difficult to build up the game against Darmstadt's high attackers.
Apart from a strong shot by Stojilković, who had previously been offside, the league leaders did little (69').
At HSV, Jatta came on for Königsdörffer (63'), but didn't do much.
Instead, Darmstadt continued to put the pressure on – and rewarded themselves late.
After a pass from Marvin Mehlem, Stojilković started on the halfway line, shook off Jonas David and scored his first goal for Darmstadt.
The attacker only moved from FC Sion to Germany in the winter.
In the closing stages, Darmstadt missed several promising opportunities.
