The Israeli took third place in the sprint competition and became the first to represent the country with the national uniform, in the second round of the Nations Cup in Jakarta

Track cyclist Michael Yaakovlev won the bronze medal today (Sunday) in the second round of the Nations Cup, held in Jakarta, Indonesia in the sprint competition.

In the battle for third place, the Israeli had no difficulty beating the Chinese Zo Yu 0:2, even earlier, already in the qualifiers, it was possible to see where Yaakovlev was headed, when he finished second and on his way to a medal, beating opponents from Australia and Malaysia, but was stopped by the Japanese Ota Kaya .

As I recall, just yesterday Yaakovlev won the bronze medal in the Keirin competition, thus becoming the first Israeli to step on the podium in Indonesia with the national uniform, after efforts made by the Israeli union, together with the Olympic Committee.

For the team, this is an important competition on the way to the Olympics, as it is one of 9 competitions whose ranking will determine the criterion for the Paris 2024 Games, with the criterion consisting of 3 Nations Cup competitions this year, 3 next year, the European Championships and the World Championship.

Yakovlev, has won many points so far and is highly ranked in the events he has participated in so far, as he hopes to receive the international release from Russia, so that he can participate in the upcoming Olympics.
