Vinzenz Geiger, Jenny Nowak, Nathalie Armbruster and Julian Schmid won the silver medal at the world championship premiere of the mixed competition in Nordic combined.

The German team was only behind Norway in Planica, Slovenia.

Austria won bronze after ski jumping on the normal hill and the decisive cross-country race.

For the German Nordic combined it was the third second place in the third competition of these title fights.

You have already collected more medals after the first week of the World Championships than at the entire home World Championships in Oberstdorf two years ago.

Schmid had already won silver in the individual on the normal hill on Saturday.

All three previous titles went to Norway for the outstanding Jarl Magnus Riiber and Gyda Westvold Hansen.

"We did an excellent job on the cross-country ski trail in terms of tactics"

"I'm very satisfied," said national coach Herrmann Weinbuch.

“We didn't jump optimally on the hill.

All four had good jumps, but not bomb jumps, so we didn't stand a chance against Norway.

Our goal was the silver medal.

Tactically, we did an excellent job on the cross-country ski run.«

In the morning, however, there had been problems with the jumping.

There were two falls because the ski jump had obviously been poorly prepared after heavy snowfall.

The jumping was initially stopped and restarted more than an hour later.

Weinbuch then severely criticized the organizers.

'It was very dangerous, grossly negligent.

Something like that shouldn't happen at the World Cup.«

After jumping, the German team took third place.

The cross-country competition started with 25 seconds on Norway.

While the favored Scandinavians continuously increased their lead in the 15 km relay, the German quartet defended second place.
