Table tennis player Christiane Ernst won medals at the Bavarian senior championship and achieved a special goal.

However, revenge failed.

Weilheim

– Participation in the German Seniors Championship last year was a wonderful experience for Christiane Ernst – and not just because she won two medals.

It was therefore clear to the woman from Weilheim: she would like to qualify again for the 2023 title fights, which will take place this year in Ahrensburg (near Hamburg).

Ernst succeeded in doing so with ease at the Bavarian Championships.

In Dillingen she won silver (singles) and bronze (mixed).

However, she was denied a revenge.

Christiane Ernst wins two medals at the Bavarian championship

In the final of the “Seniorinnen 45” Ernst had to deal with Sabine Neldner.

Both know each other from the Regionalliga Süd: Ernst plays there in third place for TSV Schwabhausen III, Neldner in number one for ESV Munich-Freimann.

Last year, both had already met at the Bavarian championship - at that time the Munich woman (in the end Bavarian Ak45 champion) won in five sets.

This time, too, the opponents fought an exciting duel that went the full distance.

Ernst won the first set (11:6), after that Neldner was successful twice (15:13, 14:12).

With a 13:11, the woman from Weilheim forced the decisive sentence.

There Ernst was ahead 5:1 and 6:4, but it wasn't enough to win gold.

Neldner won with 11:8.

In the preliminary round, Ernst put himself in a good position with two 3-0 wins.

The last game was against Barbara Seiler (TTC Langweid) for group victory.

Ernst allowed "a weak start", as she self-critically noted.

The Weilheimerin lost the first two sets.

But after that she adjusted to the defense specialist, showed a strong performance and won.

Ernst won the semi-final against Christine Kampfinger (VCS Donauwörth) 3:0 (11:2, 11:4, 11:3).

At the beginning of the Bavarian championship, the mixed competitions were on the program.

Ernst started with Marcus Taeffner (DJK Altdorf).

The duo won the opening game in three sets (11:8, 11:5, 11:8).

In the quarter-finals, it was against the married couple Sonja and Helmut Neudecker (SV Essenbach/FC Teisbach).

There Ernst and Taeffner lost in four sets (12:10, 7:11, 7:11, 8:11).

The main reason was: "We couldn't get along with Sonja Neudecker's long pimple rubber," reported the Weilheim resident.

It went better in the doubles of the "Seniorinnen 40".

Ernst won the bronze medal alongside Barbara Seiler (TTC Langweid).

Both had started together at the DM last year and finished third.

After a clear 3:0 (11:4, 11:3, 11:2) in the quarter-finals, the semi-finals went against the reigning Bavarian champions, Andrea Ott (RV Wombach) and Daniela Schumacher (TSV Zorneding).

In five hard-fought sets, Ernst/Seiler lost out (11:9, 7:11, 11:6, 6:11, 8:11).

Christiane Ernst plays in the Regionalliga Süd

In the regional league, the fourth highest division in Germany, Christiane Ernst has been doing quite well this season so far.

With TSV Schwabhausen III she ranks third (14:10 points).

In the most recent game, against BSC Rapid Chemnitz II, threatened with relegation, there was an 8:2 victory.

Ernst won both in doubles and in her two singles.
