The Israeli national team will end a disappointing campaign in the World Championship qualifiers tonight in a protocol-only game in Slovenia.
In the following tasks, a new coach is expected to stand on the lines, and we tried to make an inventory list for him of the pros and cons of the squads that will be at his disposal.
What do we have in abundance, where are our shortcomings and to which position should a citizen be added.
Coordinators
The strongest position by all accounts, and the one that actually has a big load.
On the day when all the potential coordinators can be at the coach's disposal (there is no conflict with the Euroleague games, etc.), some of them will find themselves outside.
Yam Medar, Tamir Blat, Yiftah Ziv, Roi Huber, Niv Mashgav, and also other guards who are not natural coordinators, such as Bar Timor and Iti Moskovitz, can man the number 1 position.
Besides them, there is a promising reserve.
Noam Yaacov has already received a chance in the national team, and in the near future also the super talent Ben Sharaf, who may be an interesting option.

Guards
In the past, Israeli basketball had big goals.
The strong point of the team in the past has become the weak point, there are almost no real scorers and the coaches prefer to play with two ball carriers instead of a center and a scorer.
The biggest potential to be the team's future scorer is Michael Brisker, but he is having a mediocre season in the Premier League, and has not yet received a real opportunity in the national uniform.
Itai Moskovitz from Upper Galilee is also someone you can build on, and Bar Timur, who plays a lot in this position, is not a natural scorer, even though he scored six three-pointers against Finland.
Adam Ariel, one of the best scorers that Israeli basketball has to offer, has struggled over the years to take a permanent position in the national team.

Forwards
We have many, and most of them are experienced and mature.
The captain of the team Tomer Ginat, the outstanding Israeli player of the league last season Nimrod Levy, Oz Blazer, Yuval Zussman (can also play as a guard), Rafi Manko, Nathaniel Artzi, and of course above all Danny Avdia.
All of them are technical and versatile forwards with three-point shooting ability, but are also limited athletically (with the exception of Avdia), and this is noticeable in the defensive game and in rebounding.
It will be interesting to see if the new coach tries to use Sean Dawson, who can meet this need.
So far it hasn't worked.

Chins
A position we used to lack, but today is well staffed.
First and foremost, the most prominent Israeli actor is Roman Sorkin.
The problem is that he is a Euroleague player, and until the dispute between FIBA and the top organization in Europe is resolved, his arrival in the national team will always be in doubt.
The future tall of Israel is Gabi Chachashvili, and other players who have already accumulated mileage in the national team are Idan Zalmanson and Iti Segev.
The big project is Gilad Levy, who stands 2.20 m tall and can become a significant national team player in the future.

deficiencies
Shooting from outside the arc:
the biggest drawback and what could become the tiebreaker in today's basketball.
It is possible that the next citizen should be chosen according to the three-point shooting ability, and a good candidate is Max Heidegger, who recently joined Baskonia from the Euroleague and also played in the national uniform in the past.
Defensive stopper:
with the exception of Yam Medar and Danny Avdia who rarely comes, there is no player in the team who can immobilize the star of the opposing team.
Tall and athletic:
Springy player in the 5-4 positions, who can help with rebounding and defense.
It is possible to direct the naturalized spotlight to this position as well, like Alex Tyus has strengthened in the past.
Heidegger.
