The Israeli national team ended a disappointing campaign in the World Championship qualifiers this evening (Monday) with a good taste, when they won 79:87 in Slovenia, ending their journey with a dismal record of 8:4.
For Nadav Zilberstein's players, it was a game for the record only, after five consecutive losses, and now all that is left is to hope for better ability and better results for the next gathering, in mid-July, to start the pre-Olympic tournament qualifying campaign.
Slovenia started better and ran to a 9-point lead after three and a half minutes.
Noam Yaakov who made a good debut for the senior team against Finland on Friday again came off the bench well, helped the comeback and showed that he should be taken seriously for the next campaigns as well.
Nimrod Levy and Oz Blazer joined him and transferred the advantage to the Israeli side, and while the host managed to take back the lead, in the last quarter it was Bar Timur who made sure to take responsibility, and together with Levy and Yaakov, the three closed things out.
