The Minister of Sports and Culture, Miki Zohar met today (Monday) with about 500 professionals in the field of sports in the local authorities at the conference of the Association of Directors of Sports Departments in the city of Eilat.
At the annual conference of the Association of Directors of Sports Departments in Local Authorities, chaired by the chairman of the association Shaul David, participants include senior officials in the fields of sports in the local authorities and regional councils, supervisors of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, CEOs of sports centers, physical education supervisors and the director of sports, lecturers and experts in the field of sports.
The Minister of Culture and Sports, Miki Zohar: "I see great importance in your role as sports managers in the local authorities, and therefore encourage you to do everything possible so that every male and female athlete in Israel receives the full tools to excel, so that a girl in Kiryat Malachi or Faram has a chance to become an outstanding athlete like a girl from Ramat Sharon or Rishon Lezion.
"We see you as my partners in the promotion of competitive and grassroots sports, from preschool to seniors. We now have large budgets to invest in excellence in the community, with an emphasis on the peripheral cities. I intend to increase the ministry's support to the local authorities in the various fields of sports, with an emphasis on facilities and initiatives from the field."

We are after a weekend of budget approval with great news for our office, the local authorities are full partners in everything related to sports for the community and facilities, the Minister has a clear policy of major investment in the periphery, both in infrastructure and in activity, and together with the professionals in the office we will work to realize it in the best possible way."
