The French football icon Just Fontaine is dead. As the family of the AFP news agency confirmed, the record goalscorer died at a World Cup at the age of 89.
Fontaine scored 30 goals in just 21 internationals for France between 1953 and 1960.
The Marrakesh-born striker became a legend after scoring 13 goals at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden – an unrivaled goal record, with which he led his team to the semi-finals for the first time.
