Maccabi Tel Aviv made a trip to the semi-finals of the State Cup this evening (Wednesday), after a pair of meetings against Maccabi Petah Tikva.
After the 0:4 in the first game, Aitor Karanka took Maccabi Tel Aviv B and let them have fun on the way to a tight 1:2, the whole purpose of which was to save forces and players for tasks in the league.
The Spaniard obviously did not risk Eran Zahavi or Djorja Jovanovic in the lineup, but gave a chance to the only real striker in the squad besides his two outstanding goalscorers.
The young Dor Turgeman has shown that he is capable of being a legitimate third striker in Maccabi, one who can also get minutes in the league.
Turgeman scored the first for Dan Beaton (2) and scored the winning goal in the 90th minute.
On the way, his Daniel equalized with Maccabi Petah Tikva (87) but Maccabi Tel Aviv also gave the respectable correction to a team that might meet them next season in the Premier League.
