Beaton has already been on the bench in recent league games, but not partnered and his performance last night could give him some hope of being partnered more.

The ones who recorded a less good game are Rarsh Ilya and Joris van Overeem who rarely get minutes themselves.

Yesterday's game did not boost their stocks, but regarding Ilya, Karanka said: "He is in the process and I am sure that this game will promote him because he needs time to get to know soccer in Israel. He is a very talented player and he is progressing."

It is still too early to determine anything decisive about Ilya and it is really necessary to give such a young player time when he lands for the first time in Israel, but his performance was really not promising and when Yonatan Cohen is already coming back in as a substitute, it is not clear when will be the next time that Cranka will let Romney start.

Cohen came back well after another injury that set him back.

The ball that stuck to the connections from 30 meters in a stationary state, should mark something good for him and for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
