He's only bottom of the table.

But the state league club TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld wants to keep up with the top of the table with a win in Geretsried.

Karlsfeld – Without two player failures, the conclusion of the preparation of the national league football club TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld would have been positive.

But the long absences of Lukas Paunert and Osman Akbulut enlarge the hole in the decimated central defense.

Nevertheless, coach "Jay" Alkan and Robin Kömmling, technical director of the Karlsfelder, are looking up.

If the start of the winter break succeeds on Saturday at table 14.

TuS Geretsried (3 p.m.), the Karlsfelder Eintracht could intervene again in the promotion race.

The Karlsfelders had said goodbye to the winter break with six wins from the past seven games.

But at the end of the year the first big setback followed: regular central defender Paunert tore his cruciate ligament at the Hallenmasters in Dachau - for the second time in his young career.

Now the 22-year-old has to fight back again.

Paunert's injury hits Karlsfelder hard, especially since Osman Akbulut, another central defender, will be out for a long time after an assault in preparation.

How long is still open.

“Osman has never been guilty of anything and he was provoked in this situation.

Assault is still not possible," says Kömmling.

However, the technical director of the national division hopes that Akbulut will still be able to play this season, because coach Alkan is running out of options in the central defender position.

After the departure of Niklas Uhle to SC Olching, Ivan Ivanovic is the only trained central defender in the team.

The all-rounders Fabian Schäffer and Thomas Ettenberger are the obvious options for the defensive center.

Coach Alkan initially decided on Ettenberger: "Etti has an outstanding positional play and plays a very good structure."

In addition to Uhle, goalkeeper Fabian Müske (VfB Hallbergmoos) and Furkan Ocaktan (TSV Haunstetten) have also left the club.

Müske wanted more match practice, Ocaktan less commuting because of his studies in Augsburg.

"I don't think that Furkan is saying goodbye forever," says Kömmling.

A "real" newcomer is missing, but Leon Ritter feels new.

Ritter returns from his stay abroad in mid-March and should soon be an option.

"Leon will come back fit," coach Alkan is certain.

For the time being Michael Dietl will have to shoulder the burden in the storm.

If Dietl continues to play so well in the course of the season so far and the newly formed central defense with Ettenberger and Ivanovic works well, Eintracht can climb the table.

A good start this Saturday in Geretsried is important.

In the first leg, Karlsfeld won 4-1.

If they can do the same in the second leg, the gap to second place could shrink to two points.
