A boy from Syria, who told rescuers after the deadly earthquake that he dreams of meeting Cristiano Ronaldo, got to meet his idol face-to-face at the weekend after being invited to watch the footballer play for Al Nasser in Saudi Arabia.
Nabil Saeed told rescuers about his fantasy in a video he shared on social media last month, following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6.
More than 50,000 people died as a result of the earthquake.
The death toll in Syria is more than 5,900, according to authorities.
The excited Said met the Portuguese striker shortly before the game, and gave him a high five and a big hug.
"When I saw Ronaldo, I thought it was a dream. I couldn't believe it. When this dream would end, I didn't know. I pray to God it wasn't a dream," Said said afterwards.
Saeed, who told the footballer "I love you" and mimicked chanting "sayeeee", cheered on Ronaldo and Al Nassar in their league win on Friday that left them top in Saudi Arabia.
"I wish everyone could see Ronaldo. He is a very nice person," Said said.
