The season's match in the Saudi league will take place tomorrow (Thursday) and will bring together the leader of the table, Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nasser, against second place Al Ittihad, with only two points separating the two clubs.
The game, which may even decide the championship fight in Saudi Arabia, took a surprising turn when Matteo Lahos, the provocative Spanish referee, will judge the battle of the top.
Lahos is remembered by many as a referee in the Spanish league in recent years and one of the most senior in the world.
The Spaniard began refereeing in La Liga in 2008, and is best known for his light hand on the card book in that he tends to draw yellow and red cards indiscriminately.
Only in Barcelona's 1:1 last December against Espanyol, Xavi spoke out against the management of the game by Lahos.
In the match between Argentina and the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the last World Cup, Lahos drew no less than 18 yellow cards - a World Cup record - when Lionel Messi was given a yellow only for unnecessary arguments in one of the most charged games in the history of the institution.

According to reports in Spain, the puzzling placement of Lahos for this season's game in Saudi Arabia raises further question marks, when it is reported that Ronaldo and Lahos are "close friends", but the claims are without any proof behind them.
On the sporting side, the Portuguese star will try to increase his goals tally of 8 in 6 games, and bring Al Nasser closer to the championship.
