Pitch black day for the Hallbergmoos bowlers

Bad news from the bowlers of VfB Hallbergmoos: The "First" went down against Zerbst with 0:8 - and the "Second" has to bury their dreams of promotion.

- It was a day to forget: The sports bowlers of VfB Hallbergmoos went down in the Bundesliga top game against SKV Rot-Weiss Zerbst with 0:8 points, 3:21 sets and 3640:3953 wood.

It's a good thing that the third place in the table and thus the qualification for the international NBC Cup was already in the bag before the game.

The only ray of hope on the part of the Hallbergers was Mario Nüßlein, who could at least keep up with his 660 wood.

Liga leader Zerbst, with eleven World Cup wins, four Champions League titles and 16 German championships, is the top team in national bowling – and has always won against VfB.

In the first half of the season, the Hallbergmoos team lost 1.5:6.5 in Zerbst, and in the Champions League the team from the airport community lost 3:5 and 2:6.

And now this disaster in the home game on Saturday.

VfB bowlers fall far short of their potential

First, Mario Nüßlein took to the lanes against Robert Ernjesi, Lukas Funk against Manuel Weiß and Patrick Krieger against Christian Wilke.

While Nüßlein was always close to his opponent, took a set from him and only just lost wood with 660:667, Funk never really got going.

He also got a set, but lost 615:680.

Krieger didn't stand a chance either with his 589:663.

The second half didn't go any better either.

Mathias Dirnberger was able to take a set from his opponent Florian Fritzmann, but had to admit defeat with 580:617.

Bogdan Tudorie had nothing to oppose Timo Hoffmann (585:674), and VfB team captain Damir Cekovic, who had often pulled coals out of the fire for the team, clearly lost out to Igor Kovacic with 611:652 skittles.

"There's not much to say, it's pure disappointment," said Cekovic afterwards.

Team manager Sepp Niedermair didn't want to comment on the game - and Funk just shook his head and said: "It looks like I've forgotten how to bowl since the game in Friedrichshafen." But Hallbergmooser still have a chance this season, this one Bad luck: On April 29th they have to compete in the quarter-finals of the DKBC Cup in Zerbst.

Loss to the BOL leaders

The Bundesliga duel was immediately followed by the district premier league game between VfB runners-up and leaders KC Bernried - and the starting point was clear: the winner will probably be promoted to the Landesliga.

The Hallbergmooser had to do without Dan Ioan Mihaila and Willi Ruschitzka due to illness, and so Dietmar Brosi helped out from the first.

In the first round, Mario Cekovic got his point with 592 wood, while Tobias Empl and Markus Ruschitzka lost their games.

In the second round, the VfB team tried to catch up on the 56 wood deficit.

Dietmar Brosi and Benedikt Ruschitzka get two points, while Daniel Süss lost to his opponent.

But the overall result was more important - and in the end the Hallbergers were missing three woods.

Bernried won 5:3 and 3335:3332, leads the table two games before the end of the season by three points and has a feasible remaining program.

So VfB will have to bury the dream of promotion.
