At VfB Hallbergmoos' Friday game, all eyes will be on Matthias Ostrzolek.

However, the coach leaves open whether the new player will play from the start.

Hallbergmoos

– Realistically speaking, there is only one chance for the VfB Hallbergmoos footballers to stay up in the league without relegation: That is to reach 14th place, which in a cross-comparison with number 14 in the Bayernliga Nord can bring them directly into the league.

TSV Dachau 1865, which currently has twelve points more than VfB, is in this position in the southern season.

Hallbergmoos could make up some ground in the direct duel on Friday (7.30 p.m., Stadion am Airport).

And then of course there is the anticipation of star newcomer Matthias Ostrzolek (32).

It wouldn't be a surprise if the fan club came up with something to greet them.

Sports director Anselm Küchle promises the fans a down-to-earth ex-professional who is in the mood for Hallbergmoos: "The money was never an issue during the talks," says Küchle.

"He doesn't care about that.

He only gets the compensation for travel expenses.”

Which position suits Ostrzolek best?

All other questions about the prominent newcomer have to be answered by VfB coach Florian Brachtel, who, like all players, relies on cooperation.

He announced that he would seek talks with Ostrzolek and find out how he sees his role in the team.

Brachtel is not the zampano who decides something and imposes it on the kicking staff.

The trainer wants to work out with the newcomer which position he enjoys and can best help the Hallbergers.

The coach also leaves the question open as to whether the new VfB superstar will play from the start or sit on the bench.

Brachtel has in mind that Ostrzolek is in top form, but has not played a competitive game for many months.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Either way: there are eleven men on the field – and the competition has picked up speed in recent weeks.

David Lucksch is available again and Tobias Krause in particular is putting the pressure on: As a joker, he scored two of the three VfB goals in the two games after the winter break.

He can also be recommended for the starting line-up with good training performance.

Philipp Beetz is also close to the starting eleven, so there will be hardship cases.

VfB have to be wide awake from the first minute

Krause or Simon Werner, who was only a substitute recently, could be factors in the goal of getting into the game from the start.

"Since the winter break, we've always played well in the second half and then had the chance to score points," says Brachtel.

This time he demands that his team be wide awake from the first minute.

"With the Dachauers we have an opponent at eye level." One who is also in the relegation battle.

However, the coach does not really think about reducing the gap to 14th place.

"I don't look at the table," he says clearly over and over again.

The Hallbergers are currently two points ahead of the relegation zone after 1860 Rosenheim started the new year with two defeats.

It is also clear that 13th place should no longer be an issue: VfB would have to make up 19 points for this, which is only theoretically possible with eleven games left.

The first thing to do is to get closer to Dachau.

Possible line-up:

VfB Hallbergmoos:

Dinkel – Petschner (Opitz), Monthe, Giglberger, Mömkes – Kostorz, Beetz (Küttner), Ostrzolek (Czech), Werner (Lucksch) – Diranko, Krause (David).
