The French Julia Simon is sure to win for the first time in her career, at 26, the big crystal globe which rewards the best biathlete of the season, Saturday in Oslo.
Simon, who had a 144-point lead two races before the end of winter, overtook her last competitor, the Italian Dorothea Wierer, at the end of the sprint disputed on Saturday and can no longer be caught.
Simon is the first Frenchwoman to lift the big globe since Sandrine Bailly 18 years ago, the fourth overall after Anne Briand (1995) and Emmanuelle Claret (1996).
