A youngster celebrated his goal debut.

Freising

– unexpected things often happen!

Outsiders would not have bet much on the SE Freising state league footballers before this match day.

But then the Lerchenfelder won surprisingly and deservedly 2-0 (0-0) - at the front runner SV Bruckmühl mind you.

Sometimes in certain situations you just need a knot remover.

At the SEF, which is in the middle of a relegation battle, the guest appearance in Bruckmühl could have been one of those.

"That was a well-deserved victory, I'm completely satisfied," said Freising's player coach Florian Bittner afterwards.

It was a successful game from A to Z, he continued his analysis - "and even the opponent's fans attested that we deserved to win".

That came as a surprise, after all, Freisinger slipped deeper into the table basement after just one point from the first two games of the year.

This 2-0 could have been a real liberation.

Stable defense is the basis of success

The guests from the cathedral city laid the foundation in the first round with a stable defensive performance.

Coach Bittner had put his trust in a four-man defense again – and above all his assistant coach Michael Schmid and veteran Jonas Mayr defended in the center almost everything that came towards the SEF goal.

At first nothing countable jumped out offensively, but there was zero at the back.

And above all: Freising finally showed the virtues that are needed in the relegation battle.

That's why the people of Bruckmühle were perhaps surprised by the courageous guests.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

After the change of sides, the SEF was initially lucky and after ten minutes was able to defend a strong attack by the hosts collectively to a corner.

However, the Freisinger got into better and better momentum.

They set playful accents - and were ultimately rewarded for it.

And another important factor: player-coach Bittner had a good hand with the substitutions.

Both Maximilian Rudzki and Liam Russo played a not inconsiderable part in Freising's triple point win.

Co-production of the two Jokers

Before the 1-0, the Eintracht men benefited from a play error by Bruckmühler.

The guests countered swiftly over two stops - and in the end the ball landed with Bittner, who had little trouble netting to take the lead (73').

A co-production by the two jokers, who had already made a lot of progress before, then made the preliminary decision: Rudzki had cleverly asserted himself over the wings after a fine pass from Bittner, and the 20-year-old youngster Russo simply took his subsequent cross in the centre directly and marked the 2:0 (84th) with his first national league goal.

Shortly before the final whistle, Rudzki could have scored to make it 3-0 himself, but his long-range shot hit the post.

But even so, in the end there was a deserved, albeit surprising, away win for the SEF.

The team is still in 17th place.
