Now it counts: The sports bowlers from Schwarz-Gelb Schongau absolutely have to win on the last Bayernliga matchday - and they meet a direct competitor.

Schongau – So much for a relaxed end to the season: The sports bowlers from Schwarz-Gelb Schongau have a real relegation final ahead of them in the Bayernliga Süd on Saturday, March 25, 2:30 p.m.

The Upper Bavarians, ninth with 11:23 points, meet SV Zuchering (12:22) in the table directly in front of them on their home track.

The Schongauer have to overtake the guests from Swabia if they want to stay in the league.

And even then, staying up in the league isn't set in stone.

Excitement in the relegation battle of the Bayernliga Süd

Due to the so-called sliding descent, it also depends on the scenarios in the leagues above.

The Goldener Kranz Durach team in the 2nd division South plays a role in this.

The Allgäu team moved up to a midfield position thanks to a win last weekend.

That's where they should stay.

Because for the Bayernliga Süd below, this means that "only" two teams are relegated.

In the best case, only the last one (MBB-SG Augsburg) has to go down, provided that SKC Töging becomes the southern champion and then also rises to the 2nd league by winning the relegation competition.

Black and yellow Schongau must win against Zuchering

On the most recent matchday, the Schongauers failed to get past Zuchering (3:5 against Mörslingen) to eighth place.

At TSV Milbertshofen, the black and yellow lost 1:7.

The people of Schongau called the 3,148 pins that they had bowled in total “sobering”.

At Milbertshofen (3299) there was no approach.

And yet: Before the final pairings, "everything was still possible" for the Schongauer with a score of 1:3 and a deficit of 58 wood.

Thomas Feuchtinger (541 wood/2:2 sets) started strong and took 34 wood from his opponent in the first two sets.

But then the thread broke for him.

Herbert Wagner (568) caught up and won the team point.

Meanwhile, Thomas Ludwig (497/0:4) was not allowed to win a set against Florian Turba (563).

The game was lost.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.)

In the starting pairings, Marcus Wolf (585/3:1) provided a highlight with the best performance of the day and a win over Dominik Rösch (557).

He was not deterred by the opponent's top performance in the third set (163:133).

Michael Fried (498/1:3) gave up the decisive wood in the third set in the defeat against Werner Stössl (544).

In the middle pairings, Andreas Seiband (509/0:4) played in a duel with Steffen Hagel (546) at eye level in the game and was also a few wood better there.

However, the competitor was superior in clearing (191:148) and got all sets and the team point.

(All news and stories can also be found on the Schongauer Nachrichten Facebook page.)

Christoph Sporer and Martin Pfeiffer just missed out on success.

The duo came up with 518 wood – four too few to get the team point against Maik Wöhnle (521) who had the same set.

Sporer narrowly won the first set (137:136), then lost two rounds.

Since the black and yellow player was again troubled by a thigh injury, Pfeiffer completed the last set.

There, 141 wood were no longer enough to catch up with the opponent.
