Summary: France - Netherlands 0:4 (Sport1)
The International Football Association Board (IFAB), the body responsible for the constitution of the game of football, approved a new law regarding penalty kicks from 11 meters on Tuesday (Friday).
The one who didn't like the change is the goalkeeper of Milan and the French national team, Mike Mannion, who responded with a stinging tweet on Twitter.
The essence of the change is that from now on goalkeepers will be prohibited from distracting the kickers, delaying the execution of the kick and also touching the beams, the crossbar or the net in front of it.
Manian complained about this, implying that the new law puts those who stand between the posts in sandals: "The new IFAB penalty rules in 2026 - the goalkeeper will stand with his back to the kicker. In the case of the kick, an indirect free kick."
The Frenchman, by the way, last night stopped a penalty by Memphis Depay in a game where the Tricolor ran over the Netherlands 0:4.

The new law, which will come into effect on July 1, is designed to prevent behaviors like that of the Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who became famous for his trash talk and psychological warfare against kickers from the penalty spot, especially in the last World Cup where he led the world champions to two victories in a penalty shootout. In the quarter-finals against the Netherlands and in the final against France.
