Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) starts the 2023 season as the previous one ended.

The reigning Italian world champion took first place in the first Grand Prix of the season in Portugal ahead of Spaniard Maverick Vinales (Aprilia).

The Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati-VR46) completes the podium.

Already winner of the sprint race on Saturday, Bagnaia and Ducati won everything on this first weekend of the season.

Frenchman Johann Zarco finished 4th at the very end of the race after gaining two places during the last lap.

Very good performance by Johann Zarco, bringing hope for the future.

Fabio Quartararo finishes him, 8th, inevitably disappointed.

Starting from pole position on the Portimão circuit, the Spaniard Marc Marquez (Honda) retired after a violent collision which he caused with the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia-RNF).

While Marquez escaped without serious injury, Oliveira was taken to the circuit's medical centre.
