Great success for Felix Hackenberg: The young athlete from the LC Freising sprinted to silver again in the Ismaninger winter running series.

Freising

– When it gets tough outside and most athletes treat themselves to a well-deserved break before Christmas, things really get going for Freisinger Felix Hackenberg from the LAG Mittlere Isar.

Because then the Ismaninger winter running series begins, which Felix looks forward to every year.

This running series is a competition format in which the athletes complete distances of 1000, 1500 and 2000 meters within about two months.

A year earlier, Felix Hackenberg had already proven his skills in the age group of male youth U14 and was rewarded with the silver medal in the end.

Strong performance at longer distances

But Felix isn't only to be expected over the short distances: at the annual New Year's Eve run of the MRRC Munich in the Olympic Park, he also starts over the ten-kilometer distance.

This winter, he easily finished first here in a time of 48:53 minutes.

A remarkable performance, because the runner-up only finished seven minutes behind him.

This time was also an expression of a significant improvement in form, on New Year's Eve 2021 Felix still had 54:29 minutes on the clock.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

This year, the Ismaninger running series 2022/23 was able to take place again at the regular time after Corona failures and postponements - and so Felix started the 1000 meter run as usual in mid-December.

At the age of 14, the running ace of the LC Freising was no longer under puppy protection, this year he had to deal with the bigger ones in the U 16 age group.

We also had to deal with snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures.

No problem for the young track and field athlete: Despite all the adversities, he completed the course, which resembled a pure ice rink, in 3:46 minutes - four seconds faster than last year.

Last year downright pulverized

In the second run, the 1500 meters, the weather played along, which was clearly noticeable in the times run.

Felix Hackenberg also undercut his previous year's performance of 6:20 minutes and with his 5:28 clearly cracked the magical six-minute mark.

He now wanted to hold on to the second place he had won in the final 2000-meter run - and he succeeded: the Dom-Gymnasium student sprinted to the finish in 7:23 minutes.

His improvement in form could not be overlooked when looking at the clock: last year he needed 8:19 minutes.

Conclusion: With three new personal bests, the running enthusiast from Freising was not only able to reduce his total time from 18:29 minutes in 2022 to 16:37 minutes, but also defended his second place in the new age group.

With the trophy in their pockets, the Hackenberg family is already looking forward to the upcoming running series, in which Felix definitely wants to be at the front again.
