The story of Bruno Fernandes is undoubtedly one of the most horrific that Brazilian football has ever known.
In the summer of 2010, he was accused of kidnapping and murdering his ex, former porn actress Eliza Samudio, who, according to reports, demanded child support from him for their shared son, and was pregnant with another child.
If that's not enough, the keeper of Flamengo at the time dismembered the body, and let his rottweiler dogs eat it in the hope of hiding evidence.
It didn't really help: after a long trial, Bruno was sent to prison for 22 years in the summer of 2013, on charges of murder, kidnapping and disappearance of a body.

The former goalie, who tried to commit suicide twice while in custody before the trial began, was unexpectedly released in February 2017, after a judge pointed out a mistake in the appeal process in Bruno's case.
"What happened happened," he said then.
"I made a mistake, a serious mistake, but mistakes happen and I'm not a bad person. People tried to bury my dreams, but I asked God for forgiveness and I want to continue my career."
Indeed, he continued: out of choice, he signed with a number of amateur teams, against the backdrop of quite a few protests in Brazil.
According to reports, he is soon to be appointed as the coach of Atletico Craiova from the fifth league, and will take the line in the summer.
At the same time, it is claimed that the former goalkeeper is interested in becoming a mental coach, and has already obtained an academic background in the field.

The 38-year-old Bruno began his career at Atlético Mineiro, and in the Flamengo uniform became one of the best goalkeepers in Brazil - so good, that Milan and Barcelona cast their eyes in his direction.
But then the difficult case came, and the rest is history.
