Those of Baraja match a game in which they were superior and get a point that takes them out of relegation

Direct Chronicle

Valencia got a very worked draw at Mestalla against Rayo Vallecano that was only better for the first quarter of an hour of the game.

Those of Baraja, who were slow to react, found themselves behind on the scoreboard ten minutes into the game and did not stop looking for the goal of the Madrid team, which has seven games without winning.

Goals from Comesaña and Kluivert split the points after a bittersweet game.

Valencia still hasn't breathed, but the point helps them to sleep out of relegation.

The two teams went all out, but Rayo was the one that warned the most at the start.

Two corners in the first minutes of the game and the high pressure from the Vallecas team paid off.

Comesaña finished off a cross from Álvaro García that he received practically alone, with time to control and shoot at will.

Rayo, who was trying to remember the sensations of when he dreamed of the Champions League just two months ago, took nine minutes to get ahead on the scoreboard.

Iraola's men kept up the pressure a little more, making it difficult for Valencia to get the ball out.

However, the superiority of the visitors soon disappeared, when those from Baraja began to connect.

In one of the first approaches, Kluivert looked for an equalizer by diving to finish off a cross that went long.

The Dutchman showed flashes of quality and claimed faults in equal parts.

He did not stop looking for the goal.

Shortly after he smelled the tie with a shot that forced Dimitrievski to earn his bread.

Valencia came up behind the rival's goal and began to control the game.

Rayo's pressure continued, but Valencia adapted to feel more comfortable and reach the area more.

Almeida and Guillamón appeared to move the ball and the locals established themselves from midfield forward.

The only one missing from the Valencian team was Cavani.

The centers did not reach the Uruguayan, who also found himself having trouble getting rid of his mark while Mestalla jumped to the minimum against the referee.

As the break approached, Rayo lowered the pressure, filling their field to hinder the continuous arrivals of Kluivert, who attacked the goal like a battering ram.

Valencia took advantage of the spaces to move to the middle of Rayo.

In the second part, the locals continued with the search for a tie.

Kluivert started a promising play from his own half and drove the ball to the edge of Dimitrievski's area and tried a wall with Gayá, but the Spanish full-back's cross went over the end line after neither the Dutchman nor Cavani reached top off.

Those of Baraja did not stop reaching the area, but their aim failed them.

Samu Lino and Castillejos also tried from medium distance, but Dimitrievski's wall did not fall.

Rayo closed with ten down against Valencia and the Macedonian goalkeeper saved what his team let go.

Iraola's men were able to extend the advantage in a counter attack, the best they had in the second half, but Valencia withdrew well to stop the visitors' attack.

The home team savored the equalizer when the referee awarded Diakhaby a penalty, but VAR stepped in to call it off.

However, football things, two minutes later he intervened again to concede another for a handball from Baillu.

Kluivert saw all his efforts rewarded with a goal ten minutes from time that put Mestalla on its feet and made Rayo react, seeing how the three points were escaping.

A Valencia that deserved more could not get past the tie.
