FC Bayern failed in the DFB Cup quarter-finals at SC Freiburg.

A penalty in injury time brought the decision - despite Pavard's unsportsmanlike behavior.

In the end, FC Bayern Munich had to admit defeat to self-sacrificing Freiburgers and was once again eliminated early.

Ultimately, a hand penalty brought the decision, Lucas Höler converted in the fifth minute of added time to win 2-1 for the guests.

VfB Stuttgart and 1. FC Nürnberg (Wednesday, 6 p.m.) are also determining a participant for the semi-finals.

In addition to Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt has already qualified for the semi-finals.

Back to the Allianz Arena in Munich: Bayern actually had everything under control there, controlling the ball and opponents for long stretches.

Dayot Upamecano headed in after 19 minutes to make it 1-0, but the Bayern star was clearly leaning on Freiburg's Maximilian Eggestein.

The protests from the guests were loud, the goal should not have counted.

But it did – but the deficit gave Freiburg a little more guts.

Nicolas Höfler equalized just eight pointer turns later with a remarkable long-range shot.

Despite Bayern's superiority, no further goals were scored - until the 95th minute.

Höfler fired again, Jamal Musiala threw himself into the shot and played the ball clearly with his hand.

Referee Harm Osmers immediately awarded a penalty, the VAR agreed.

And so the sports club had the unique opportunity to win their first away game at FC Bayern Munich.

But who should shoot?

Vincenzo Grifo, regular penalty taker, had already been substituted.

Michael Gregoritsch had recently forgiven the national team.

The Freiburg goal scorer was not influenced by the usual games of the opponents.

First, the Bayern stars had a long discussion with referee Osmers, although the handball was clear and the decision was completely correct.

FCB defender Benjamin Pavard then delivered an action that was just shameful even for the neutral fan: he manipulated the penalty spot with his studs, damaged the turf in order to give Höler the most unclean shot possible.

Osmers noticed the unsportsmanlike action and immediately drew a yellow card.

The Frenchman responded with a tired smile.

In the end, however, only the people of Freiburg laughed.

There was criticism on social networks for Pavard's actions.

FC Bayern meets Freiburg again on Saturday

For Bayern, the triple dream has burst.

In the Bundesliga they are currently two points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, which they defeated 4-2 in the classic at the weekend.
