Ten years are enough: Martin Resch stops as team manager at EA Schongau.

His two successors are no strangers to the "mammoths".

Schongau

– In sports, patience and perseverance are often necessary to be successful.

Both qualities distinguished Martin Resch, who, as team manager of EA Schongau, formed a top team in the Bavarian league from a long-standing state league team.

"After ten years it's time for changes," announced Resch.

After the "Mammuts" had finished third in the main round in the past two seasons and left some teams with much better financial resources behind, Resch decided to hand his office over to someone else after the 2022/23 season.

They have the sporting and economic skills and they get along very well personally.

Martin Resch on his two successors

The motto of the Schongauer is: Make two out of one.

In the future, a duo will share the team manager post.

Friedrich Weinfurtner, who ended his playing career due to an injury last season, and former EAS striker Matthias Brahmer will succeed Resch.

"They have the sporting and economic skills and they get along very well personally," says the outgoing manager, pleased that an internal solution for his successor was found within the club.

"Both have the trust of the entire management board and I'm sure that they will set new impulses," Resch distributed advance praise to the new manager duo.

Resch does not withdraw completely

However, the 45-year-old will not retire completely.

"I'm not gone.

I will stand by them both in an advisory capacity and as the second board member at EAS I will continue to take care of strategic issues such as the ice rink.

I haven't had much time for that lately," explained Resch.

Brahmer and Weinfurtner find "intact structures" in Schongau

"We want to build on Martin's successful work," says Weinfurtner.

He is aware that he and Brahmer have big shoes to fill.

Nevertheless, the 33-year-old branch manager of a forwarding company, like his new manager colleague, approaches the task with a great deal of confidence.

"We will coordinate in all areas, i.e. in terms of staff, supervisors, material and game operations," explains Weinfurtner.

“Each of us has numerous contacts from our active days.

We want to use and expand this network,” reports Brahmer.

“Here at EAS, we adopt intact structures,” says the 37-year-old regional manager, who, unlike Weinfurtner, who, with the exception of his early days in Pfronten, only played for Schongau, got around a lot in ice hockey during his active time.

Brahmer played in Bayreuth, Pegnitz,

Hassfurt and Hügelsheim and made numerous contacts that will now benefit him in his managerial role.

"The players know what's going on, now it's time to talk," the new EAS manager duo throws themselves into work to put a powerful team on the ice for the coming Bayernliga season.

The most important point on the agenda: the occupation of the coaching position

The first priority for both of them is the coaching position.

Another candidate is Markus Ratberger, who took over EAS from Rainer Höfler last December.

"After that we will go through every player in the squad," said Weinfurtner.

The tendency is to keep a large part of the successful team from last season.

"And we want to integrate more young players," is one of Weinfurtner's goals.

"After the successes of recent years, we are also attractive to talented players, because they get ice time with us," says Brahmer, who, together with his managerial colleagues, has decided to send a good mix of young and experienced players into the EAS race.

"Financially, they will have a similar budget as last season," said the retiring Resch at the end.
