The Catalans are racking their brains and looking for solutions so that they can carry out the return of Lionel Messi and keeping Gabi on a new contract. Will the veterans pay the price?

Gabi's future is not on the agenda in the Barcelona newspapers.

Since it became known about the meeting of Chelsea's leaders with the player's representatives, in Catalonia they have been working diligently to find a solution that will allow the midfielder's new contract to be approved, knowing that if they do not succeed in the task they will lose the player who will leave this summer without compensation.

BS announced last week that the Blues will offer the 18-year-old Gabi a huge contract in order to entice him to move to London, but the possibility that Gabi will leave exists, as we know, only because the court did not approve his new contract at the club - so he became a free agent about a month after signing in Barcelona until 2026.

Gabi signed with Barcelona until 2026 about two months ago, but "La Liga" appealed to the court claiming that the Catalans are violating the financial fair play laws, the court accepted the appeal and Gabi returned to the status of a youth player who does not hold a professional contract and is therefore allowed to leave.

Barcelona is now required to cut about 200 million euros from its budget in order to keep Gabi, and no less important is to extend existing contracts and sign new players, including Lionel Messi.

This means that, first and foremost, Barcelona must free up space in the salary cap.

According to "Mundo Deportivo" it intends to do this by selling several players, cutting existing contracts and saying goodbye to veterans.

Left back Jordi Alba ends his contract next season, but the team will not stand in his way, while Sergio Busquets ends his contract and may leave for Israel, and even if he stays he will be required to make significant cuts.

In addition, according to "Mundo Deportivo", Barcelona are considering selling 24 percent of the ownership of "Barca Studios", a company on behalf of the club that deals with the creation of NFT.

The sale of about a quarter of the shares may lead to an immediate income of about 100 million euros.
